In 2012 Toastmaster research established that Mentoring was the area where Toastmasters were Least Satisfied! As a Club coach I became aware of how important mentoring is for heathy Toastmaster clubs, officers, and members. We so need to improve our interpersonal communication and our ability to reach out to others. The average club has 1/3 member in their first year; 1/3 in their 2nd or 3rd year and the rest with more experience. Not only how do we create the culture but how do we past the supportive culture though the changes in membership? We need something physical that can be shared. My HPL creates a TM Mentoring Ideas Handbook. I appreciate both my guidance and action committees that have helped with ideas, graphics, and editorial assistance. “Something physical” needs to be shared. District 26 has scheduled “We need Mentoring” as one of the educational sessions on Friday January 10th in Colorado Springs and I am also scheduled to present at the make-up TLI. It may also be possible to create a video to support the TM Mentoring Ideas that come from the Handbook, the sessions, and the additional ideas shared by many. Thus this HPL is still “in progress”
